Killybegs and Donegal, Ireland

The ship pulled in early this morning into the fishing village of Killybegs, Ireland.  The village of Killybegs is a fishing community.  They have a rug museum, but the factory shut down several years ago.  It’s quite a picturesque village.
I left Killybegs for Donegal, Ireland.  I was to take a ride of Donegal Bay.  It was low tide, and this gave a good view of the local wildlife.  Two types of seals make their home in the bay right off of the Atlantic Ocean.

After the tour of the Bay by Waterbus, I had a little time to peruse the items of tweed and Irish textiles before heading back to the ship.

Two types of seas live in the Donegal Bay.

The seals are taking advantage of low tide to recline in the sun.  The young pups to the right are only about 2 months old.

Downtown Donegal contains lots of local textiles.

The downtown square in Donegal is actually diamond shaped.
