Best of Prince Edward Island

I took a day to visit the main sites on this beautiful island.  The ship docked in Charlottetown, PEI.  I was soon off to visit the Confederation Bridge (they charge $45 when you leave the island via the bridge), the home of author/setting for the "Anne of Green Gables" books, and visited the beautiful beaches and dunes of the Gulf of the St. Lawrence on the Atlantic Ocean.

This is the view as the ms Maasdam made its way to the Port of Charlottetown on Prince Edward Island.

Here's the view of Charlottetown from the harbor.

The Confederation Bridge connects PEI with the mainland of Canada.  It's a 9 mile long toll road/bridge and the charge when you leave the island ($45.50 per car).

The home (now a museum) and setting for the Anne of Green Gables books.

Another view of the farm that was the setting for the book.

The main products of the island:  mussels, oysters, lobster, potatoes, and dairy (great ice cream!).

The beaches and the sand dunes of the Gulf of St. Lawrence on the northern end of the island.

The red cliffs of the island.
