If it’s Saturday, then it must be Fort Lauderdale…

This ship returns to Fort Lauderdale each Saturday.  New passengers and a new itinerary.  So, there’s a one, two or three-week itinerary for the guests.  We begin the second leg of the itineraries which is to visit the Western Caribbean.

One person got off by way of ambulance this morning.  I’m not sure what happened, but we were met at the dock by a firetruck and ambulance.  The individual was loaded on and transported.  So, the disembarkation process was delayed.
I took a multi-mode tour today… bus, walking, and boat tour of Fort Lauderdale.  I saw my first billionaire lounging outside his mansion.  The boat guide had us all yell hello in unison to Wayne Huizenga who went from garbage man to the Miami Dolphins.  Fort Lauderdale is often called “Wayne’s World.”

It was a good tour, and I returned to the ship.  Lots of new passengers were exploring the confines of the ship.

This is the kind of "expedited disembarkation" that most people don't want to have exiting a vacation trip.

I learned a tremendous amount about the local history.  This chair was a reminder of a rivalry between a new and past mayor of the city.

We also learned some maritime and Native American history.  The guide relayed an interesting story on the origin of the word "Seminole."

I saw lots of sea gulls today.  This one was lounging in the marina next to our boat.

This is how a billionaire spends his Saturday morning.  We all yelled in unison to greet Mr. Huizenga, and he waved at us as we sailed by.
