Well, it wasn’t really our 999th formal night,
but we’ve had lots of them! We’ve had so
many formal nights that no one at the table bothers to bring a camera to the
event anymore.
It was a shame I didn’t have my camera. One of the nice features is that we’re often
joined for dinner by members of the ship’s staff. So, no pictures were taken of Calista and
Eddy who joined us for dinner last night.
Calista and Eddy are a married couple from the Netherlands who are the
floral arrangers on our ship. They’re
very young, and it was hard to believe they’ve worked on the ms Amsterdam for about 10 years.
Eddy is the grandson of a Dutch farmer, and he believes that explains
his interest in plants. Calista went to
college and studied floral design and landscape architecture.
Calista and Eddy love to travel, and they recently explored
the Blue Ridge Parkway during a vacation last year from the cruise line. They said they enjoyed time spent in the Carolinas and
Virginia (she seemed very interested in Cherokee history).
Well, I didn’t get the couple’s picture last night, but I’ll
share a little of their latest work in the blog today. The flowers always are so creative and
represent the area of the world in which we’re traveling. You can see the SE Asia influence with the
hats that are used in the design.

This is a large arrangement in one of the ship's lounge areas. |
|
This arrangement is on the stairway connecting the promenade and upper promenade levels. It is massive so I had to shoot up at the vase. |
|
This is one (actually three placed together) of the arrangements in the Explorer's Lounge. I go here each evening to hear the piano and violin duo perform before dinner. |

This is found on a shelf outside of the ship's library. |

This is outside the ship's front desk. |
