It was HOT! They have two seasons in this part of Thailand: Wet and Dry. As our guide stated, it's the dry season and it's always hot.
Here are a few of the things I captured in photos from my visit today.
I took this shot as we made our way to the dock this morning. I learned that this area is not the most popular for beaches (it's muddy during low tide). |
We arrived at the port during low tide. Note the Buddha high up in the hills. Most of the people in this part of Thailand are Buddhists. |
This is the southernmost point is Laem Promthep ("Brahma's Cape"), a popular view point. |
The lighthouse at Brahma's Cape is a popular attraction. |
This was a memorial that had offerings placed on it, but I couldn't read the inscription that was in Thai. |
The Buddhist shrine at Promthep Cape on the island observation point. |
The group visited the Wat Chalong Buddhist Temple Complex. |
There are temples, shrines, and a pagoda at the Wat Chalong complex. |
The island has a large Buddha that overlooks the island. It can be seen from the sea as you sail in to the port. |
The group had a Thai lunch prior to seeing a show of Thai music and dance. |
We were greeted with flowers and hand fans to provide a little relief from the heat. |
The show was used to highlight dance and culture of this part of Thailand. |
The dancers bid us farewell as we leave the Puket Thai Village. |
