A day in an Amazon River village...

For $5 you can take about an hour boat ride to see the community... a great dea!l

First stop was going through the tall grass to see the giant water lilies.

Amazing.

The village cattle were grazing and wading at the same time.

Some of the wildlife our boat encountered.  Thank goodness no dangerous wildlife was visible.

A bird making a loud call.

I was in a boat like this with six folks and a local driver.

The kids, speaking Portuguese and pointing, wanted us to see their "pets."  All for $1 a picture.

Even the teenagers got in on the act.

I climbed up the hill to the neighboring village.  You can see the ship in the background.

The Amazon rainforest was beautiful as were the clouds in the sky.  Here I am on that lookout point overlooking the forest.

This young lady had a pet monkey.  He stayed on her head the entire time.

After about an hour on the tributary, the group returned to the village.

It looks like we have some folks who want to join us on the ship.  They are beside the tender boat.

The final tender returns to the ship, and the next stop will be in Manaus for two days.
