Antarctica Day 2: The morning in pictures

It is hard to explain how big the mountains are in comparison to the ship.

The mountains tower above us as we pass through the channel.

The staff members are constantly running out to get a picture of the region.  Regine poses for me as she takes a break to view the scenery.  Most of the bar staff members are from the Philippines and the restaurant and crew staff are from Indonesia.

The ice underneath the water gives the water a pretty blue color.

A glacier and some icebergs that have broken off.

To me this kind of looks like a don lying down with a short wagging tail.

They've added Day 2's planned trip.  The ice pilot on board decides the ultimate route.

The arrow to the left (curled) shows where we started on Day 2.  This is the planned voyage for our time in Antarctica.

Listen carefully.  You can here when an ice sheet breaks off from the glaciers.

Note the whale's tale (fluke).  This humpback is going for a deep dive eating krill.

Instead of towels, the ship has woolen throws to be used to keep warm.

Beautiful scenery and beautiful weather.  The passengers have been so lucky.

You can see that the larger part of the iceberg is under the water.

This is only the second boat we've encountered (excluding the Palmer Station folks).
