Arriving in Kusadasi, Turkey

The ship just arrived in Kusadasi, Turkey, and the sun was rising over the beautiful hills.  This port, a resort area on the Aegean Sea, once was part of Greece.  The major tours today will go to Ephesus; however, I visited the ruins a few years ago.  So, I'm going to the village of Sirince.  According to Wikipedia,

"Şirince was settled when Ephesus was abandoned in the 15th century but most of what one sees today dates from the 19th century. There is a story that the village was settled by freed Greek slaves who named the village Çirkince (meaning "Ugly" in Turkish) to deter others from following them.  The village's name was changed to Şirince (meaning "Pleasant") in 1926 by the governor of Izmir Province."
Nothing in this part of the world is ugly.

Sunrise in Kusadasi, Turkey.

The sky was a beautiful blue-gray as the sun came over the hills.

The ms Amsterdam is making its way into the harbor.

The view of the Aegean must be great from these homes on the hillside.

This is a small port that's downtown in the village ... great for those wanting to wander the streets.
