I did a walking tour of Dublin this afternoon. The weather was great (it seems to rain most
days). We toured two of the parks and
saw government and university buildings.
The tour also included a stop in an Irish pub for an Irish
libation. The final part of the tour was
free time for shopping.
I am going to an Irish-style barbeque this afternoon, and
the entertainment for the evening will be local Irish dancers and
musicians.
There have been tough times in Irish history, and these sculptures are in remembrance of those who died in the famine. |
One of the most famous people from Dublin is Oscar Wilde, and this sculpture is in one of the parks in the city. |
I didn't see any shamrocks growing, but I did see a thistle. |
From Wikipedia: "Dublin has more green spaces per square kilometer than any other European capital city, with 97% of city residents living within 300 meters of a park area." |
Folks are having lunch in the park (every Thursday). Local restaurants are selling food items in the tents. |
It was a beautiful day and folks were enjoying the sunshine in the park. |
Another sculpture commemorating the famine. |
This is the pond at St. Stephens Green. |
No walking tour of Dublin is complete without visiting a pub. |
...and an Irish libation. |
Trinity College is one of the oldest universities. |
