Transiting the remainder of the Panama Canal

We made good time through the Panama Canal.  In fact, we were the first ship going south and we were the first to enter the Culebra Cut, the Pedro Miguel Locks and the Miraflores Locks to the Pacific Ocean.

As you enter the Culebra Cut, you'll eventually hear people yelling.  It's the prison that once housed Manuel Noriega.

I couldn't understand what they were yelling from the prison as we sailed by.  It might be, "Help, get me out of here!"

Constant attention is required to maintain the Canal.  Here they are creating tiers to prevent landslides.

The Bridge of the Americas is a beautiful site as the ship makes its way toward the Pedro Miguel Locks.

Part of the scenery of the Culebra Cut.  Tiers help to prevent washing landslides into the canal.

The old Pedro Miguel Locks are ready for us to enter.  Note the height of the new locks to the upper right.

Being lowered from the Pedro Miguel Locks so the ship can approach the final locks to the Pacific Ocean.

A look behind as we exit the locks and see the next ship getting ready to being lowered.

The final locks, the Miraflores Locks help us reach the Pacific Ocean.

Folks observe the ships along the way.  The Miraflores Locks has a large observation deck. Transit viewing also is online.
